Kirk Smeaton Primary School
Supported by the Barlby Sports Partnership, Kirk Smeaton Primary have embraced Tai Chi and now run sessions
on a regular bases.
Kirsty Allan, teacher at Kirk Smeaton is now a Tai Chi trainer, qualified in Module 1 and the SATs Survival
Training. Kirsty and the Head - Mrs Hannay are also keen to share the good work that they've been doing
with the parents and community in the beautiful hamlet of Kirk Smeaton, Yorkshire.

I was plesed to be asked to go into All Saints Primary School in Ilkley – Yorkshire to support their Oriental
Day. The school had been busy making Terracotta Warriors, Chinese fans and a beautiful display in the reception
area. I loved this dragon that they made and demonstrated as it fitted so well with Tai Chi and Chinese philosophy.

Medals won for Sabre Form and Tui Shou
(Push Hands) at the 2002 European Internal
Martial Arts Competition.

Enlightenment Day at Tadcaster Grammar School. These guys and girls really blew me away. This was the first
time the students had tried Tai Chi – the postures are fantastic and they embraced the Chinese Philosophy of
Holistic Health so well. Discipline was excellent and they worked very hard.

Tadcaster Grammar School Feeling Chi

Inclusion Session at Frizinghall Primary School – Bradford. The outcome for this after school class was to
help the children make new friends. Some of the girls were exhibiting behavioural problems and it was felt
that offering different activities would support their needs. I’m more than happy to say that the outcome was
achieved. I have lots of thank you notes saying how much they enjoyed the session, how they felt happier and
fitter in themselves and made friends for life.

Remember...

There are many ways of coming to Tai Chi and everyone has their own journey, as the classics say:

"There are no paths; paths are made by walking"
